Project: Improving the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Secondary Education Project
9th March 2024

The Improving STEM Secondary Education Project in Tajikistan led by MIT Academy is a pioneering initiative aimed at revolutionizing education for middle and high school students through an equitable and quality-focused approach to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This project is driven by the objective of building a robust human capital foundation, thus propelling Tajikistan towards enhanced labor productivity and heightened global competitiveness. A hallmark of this initiative is its commitment to gender-inclusive education, heightened climate change awareness, and the comprehensive digitalization of learning methodologies. By targeting a broad spectrum of participants, including students, teachers, and educational professionals across selected schools and institutions, the project aspires to refine teaching methods and elevate educational standards.

The impact of STEM education extends beyond academic achievements preparing students from K-12 for the challenges and opportunities of the future. It equips them with life-ready skills essential for success in the 21st century including collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. These skills are indispensable for navigating the complexities of modern society and the global economy, ensuring that the next generation is not only well-versed in STEM disciplines but also adept at applying their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Through this comprehensive approach, the Improving STEM Secondary Education Project in Tajikistan aligns with the country’s developmental goals, setting a new standard for educational excellence and innovation.

A critical aspect of the project’s development has been MIT Academy’s engagement in one-to-one communications with key stakeholders both in-person and online. Notably, MIT had the privilege of engaging with H.E. Ardasher Saeedjaafar Qodiri – Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Malaysia in meaningful dialogues. Additionally, MIT Academy conducted online meetings with representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Central Asia Consultation for Tajikistan and the Department of Foreign Countries (Republic of Tajikistan), further solidifying the project’s collaborative framework. This collaboration is also supported by a partnership with Annexure Financial Solution aimed at bringing national and international experts to contribute to the project’s success.
